AWS announces Satellite Resiliency for AWS Outposts

Satellite Resiliency for AWS Outposts offers a comprehensive, Partner-managed solution for resilient cloud-connected edge computing that extends the reach of Amazon Web Services (AWS) to the most remote and geographically dispersed environments on earth. AWS Outposts typically run connected to a parent AWS Region for resource management, access control, and software updates. When terrestrial network connectivity between an Outpost and its parent AWS Region is unavailable, this solution routes traffic back to the parent Region over a Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite connection, supporting business continuity and data residency requirements.

How an open source EMR system has transformed patient healthcare in more than 50 countries

In countries where demand for healthcare outweighs available resources, and populations are spread out in remote locations, open source technologies using Amazon Web Services (AWS) can transform providers’ and patients’ experience. Bahmni, an open source electronic medical records (EMR) system is one that we have pioneered. It gives doctors rapid access to up-to-date health records and test results so that they have better information and more time for patient care. A system that started in a single hospital in a remote part of central India is now used by more than 500 hospitals in 50 countries.

How Amazon Bedrock helped the UK’s Governors for Schools generate meaningful insights

Governors for Schools is a charity operating across England and Wales to find and place volunteers on school and academy governing boards. Amazon Web Services (AWS) has worked with Governors for Schools by providing financial support, in addition to more than 100 AWS employees applying to take on school governance roles, providing much needed technical expertise in education. But in this post, we explain how Governors for Schools used Amazon Bedrock to process unstructured documents and generate meaningful insights into UK schools.

INRIX collaborates with AWS for generative AI hackathon during its annual ‘Innovation Week’

Studies indicate hackathons improve individual and organizational productivity, strengthen company culture, increase collaboration, and accelerate learning. Amazon Web Services (AWS) is a natural complement to these events, because the utility model reduces the cost of experimentation, accelerating progress. AWS frequently partners with customers on hackathons, and this post details a recent engagement with INRIX, Inc., which provides innovative services to organizations operating in the automotive and transportation sectors, offering real-time parking and traffic information and solutions for road safety.

The need for a Cloud Center of Excellence in digital transformation

Digital transformation initiatives often struggle to achieve their intended goals, with McKinsey and Company reporting that up to 70 percent fail to fully meet objectives. Challenges like time delays, cost overruns, and incomplete functionality can undermine the success of these efforts. This post is the first in a four-part series that addresses how a Cloud Center of Excellence (CCoE) can be a viable solution to address these common pitfalls. Part one focuses on what a CCoE is and how it, combined with the Amazon Web Services Cloud Adoption Framework (AWS CAF), can help your enterprise with its digital transformation.
