LOVE Barracuda Essentials!
What do you like best about the product?
Barracuda Essentials works so well and is easy to manage once installed and configured. I am able to see everything that comes in add senders to the Blacklist or Whitelist as needed. Very satisfied with the results.
What do you dislike about the product?
It's so powerful that the menus can sometimes be a little overwhelming. But, once you used it for little while it will make sense and become very easy to use.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We needed comprehensive email scanning and filtering and Barracuda was the best we could find.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It works and it is not too expensive for most businesses and will pay for itself many times over if it saves you from just one ransomware or other malware attack.

Best Email Security to operate with ease
What do you like best about the product?
The Simplicity of setting up and the ease of which you can start protecting your domain within minutes. This products integrates well within other products of barracuda to give you ease of accessibility and control over multiple barracuda products. The centralized cloud control is the one place to view and manage all barracuda cloud offerings. The details of each setting is remarkable to beginners as they jump into protecting their email domains. Highly recommended as an enterprise email security solution.
What do you dislike about the product?
The cloud offering needs to integrate with other products in order to give additional features such as forensics and sentinel
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Barracuda essentials have kept our business email domain secured from sophisticated attacks and have helped the business adapt to best practices when securing the organizations domain.
It's good security products
What do you like best about the product?
Per-User quarantine is the best feature. We can stop a lot of spam email using per user quarantine. Email spooling feature is best we did not lose email. We can easily deploy within minimum downtime. We can manage multiple domains separately.
What do you dislike about the product?
Global Quarantine feature. Because we can not see quarantine delivered details in the message log. Only we can see specific Quarantine mailbox delivered details. We can not customize external sender warning messages.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
95% Spam email blocked by Barracuda and email spooling is better. Several time our email server down we protect email spooling feature without mail lost.

Easy deployment compares other products and minimum downtime to deploy.
First Week Using - Identified an Account Takeover
What do you like best about the product?
It's easy to use, gives you the opportunity to refine searches, and is very fast. We can immediately block the email address or domain of the sender, and also set up continuous remediation, if needed.
What do you dislike about the product?
It keeps a history log of all the spear phishing attacks. This log cannot be deleted or trimmed down and becomes quite large after a while. I would like to be able to purge information out of the log.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Within the first week of use it identified an account takeover from someone in Turkey, which we easily stopped! We have been able to be notified of spear phishing attacks immediately when they happen. We can identify the attack, find out if it proliferated to other users, and then remediate the attack within minutes! This would have taken us hours before.
Barracuda Essentials
What do you like best about the product?
Essentials overall has been great for my corporation. The message log alone is a life saver
What do you dislike about the product?
I would love to see increased reporting capabilities and more custom configuration of the spam filters
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We wanted increased protection from spam and phishing. Office 365 just wasn't delivering. Essentials has.
Barracuda Essentials in Higher Education
What do you like best about the product?
It is very easy to set up and use. It does a nice job of blocking viruses and malware. I like the layout of allow/block lists. I like that it takes the load off of on-site hardware. It is hard to beat Barracuda's support.
What do you dislike about the product?
Like all products out there, some things do get through. But, not sure that is a dislike so much. It is just that nothing can block everything while still allowing the good in.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use it in conjunction with our on-site Email Security Gateway. It takes the workload off of it.

What do you like best about the product?
With our Barracuda Cloud Archiving solution we have unlimited storage for emails received and sent. We can set a retention period - which we have changed more than once as we found certain litigation queries can go back 5+ years. It's easy to assign a user with specific authority to research emails.
What do you dislike about the product?
The user interface could be a little more user friendly, but it all works nicely and doesn't stop you from using it or finding what you are looking for.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have had a few HR cases opened which pulled into question emails that were sent/received by some users. In these cases, we were able to use the Barracuda Cloud Archiving service to search and find any emails which helped with the HR cases.
We have solved some important claims against the company regarding things such as: letting go of an employee, workman's compensation, etc.

What do you like best about the product?
The Barraucuda Forensics and Incident Response (FIR) is easy to use and allows you to immediately identify, verify, and mitigate a problem within a few minutes. Without FIR you may not even know if there was a problem, and it may take hours to find and resolve.
Many email scanners handle incoming email only, but with Barracuda Essentials you get incoming and outgoing email scanning.
The Archiving feature, with it's unlimited retention and storage, is a great way to dive into historical emails for research or legal inquiries.

What do you dislike about the product?
The Cloud Control web access to the ESS can sometimes be slow and/or drag a bit. But other than that I can't find anything that is a negative.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Besides the obvious benefits of email scanning for viruses and malware, the FIR portion of the ESS is incredible. We have already stopped one account takeover, whereby the users account was logged in from someone in Turkey (we are in California/USA). The FIR immediately notified us and within a few clicks we were able to stop the takeover and change the users password. In the past, we would have not known about something like this or found it too late - and I now have to wonder if this did happen before and we just never knew about it.
For ransomware, phishing and scamming, the FIR continuously monitors suspicious activity and alerts us. We have the ability to instantly look at the suspicious email and determine if we want to delete it from the users inbox(s) and then block the offending email address and/or domain, or if it is a false positive, we can report it as such back to Barracuda. It is constantly learning.

What do you like best about the product?
I love the daily emails showing the emails that have been scanned and are awaiting my disposition.
What do you dislike about the product?
Could be a little easier to log into when not using the email shortcut. Sometimes, when I go straight to the website and login, it doesn't take me to my home page.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Email threats are constant. Barracuda is very successful in helping us filter out all non-essential emails to limit our potential exposure to email threats.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Ease of use and effectiveness gives great cost benefit.
Phishline is a great application for training our users to be more aware of email scams
What do you like best about the product?
Barracuda Phishline was very helpful in identifying the problem areas in our staff. The reporting help raise managements awareness. The attached training help guarantee that the users that needed it would receive it. Phishline's usefulness I would give a 10 out of 10
What do you dislike about the product?
Navigation of the application could be greatly improved upon. I also found the setup documentation to be lacking. Barracuda Support while very helpful and willing to work with you, this application seems new to them and their ability to solve an issue is lengthy.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our main purpose for using Phishline was to reduce the amount of times our users accept and open Phishing emails. Emails from Support and executives were not cutting it. Phishline helped us identify problem users and to provide training to them directly. It has helped us immensely!
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I would recommend Phishline to everyone but just be aware the navigation needs some work and the support staff (who are fantastic and great to work with) seem to need more training in the application.
