Excellent CLM for use in an integrated Quote to Cash system

What do you like best about the product?
We use Apttus CLM in combination with their CPQ product, and then integrate to our back-end systems and ERP. I find the Apttus CLM to be well-designed out of the box, and it was relatively easy to configure during our deployment. Our Legal and Contracts team also benefit from the X-Author functionality that allows us to use our Office suite to manipulate and edit documents seamlessly within the CLM.
What do you dislike about the product?
We have a very complex agreement structure, with a lot of variable clauses, use-dependent templates, etc. Configuring Apttus CLM to handle that complexity took a lot of effort. Also, the presentment limitations for line items in the quote/agreement record could be more dynamic.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are using Apttus CLM to unify our previous patchwork of contracting systems and processes. Doing so allowed us to present a single, coherent contract to our customers. We no longer have to manually enter in customer, opportunity or approval information into our contracts, resulting in time savings and tighter revenue assurance controls. Making changes to our templates is swift and efficient. The changes we have made to our customer contracts, both individually and globally, is now highly reportable.

Apttus CLM Successful Outcomes

What do you like best about the product?
The product is extremely mature and well constructed. The fact that Apttus has the most robust total Quote-to-Cash offering ranging from Configure-Price-Quote (CPQ) to Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM), Incentive Compensation Management (ICM) and Revenue Recognition capabilities, makes their Contract Management capability that much more scalable into an even bigger, more valuable business solution.

I also had a phenomenal experience with their Professional Services team that embedded with our team, got to know our business, challenges, processes and desired outcomes and worked tirelessly to deliver a winning solution. As a result, we transformed our contract management operation from a highly disconnected, manual and e-mail driven approach to a completely automated process within the Salesforce ecosystem. We were able to leverage pre-approved legal language to more easily construct our contracts. Approvals were automatically generated, disseminated, escalated and captured within the system. Contracts were easily e-signed by customers and countersigned by our legal team with a single click. Ultimately all contract language including terms, conditions and even specific clauses were stored as searchable data.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is little to dislike about the Apttus CLM product or in their ability to deliver a winning solution. As with many Salesforce applications, use of the interface could sometimes be more efficient with less whitespace and fewer page turns. But this is a minor consideration given the awesome results and great success we have experienced with this Apttus solution.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
As a result of our Apttus CLM implementation, we reduced our manual process by 40% of the redundant or unnecessary process steps. We reduced our contract processing costs by 25%. And we experienced a 60% increase in the speed at which contracts were signed. So, we were able to reduce the lag between close of an opportunity and the point at which we were able to start recognizing revenue.

Sales Reps love it. Legal relies on it. And the Operations team can't live without it. In 25 years, this was one of the smoothest, most successful projects I have had the pleasure of overseeing.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Consider Apttus very highly for three reasons:

1. Their broader Quote-to-Cash vision and scalability
2. Their exceptional Professional Services
3. The strength of their organization and their dominant standing in the marketplace

What do you like best about the product?
Cloud hosted proposals shared across the enterprise, instant online meeting and the ability to see what is viewed on the presentation.
What do you dislike about the product?
Octiv is great in theory, but it does take customization-- if your CRM isn't cleaned up or your sales people aren't using it, you won't get the most value out of Octiv.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Customer specific proposals using CRM data.

What do you like best about the product?
I like that it integrates directly into our Salesforce CRM and additionally I really like that it tracks opens so I know exactly when my client is viewing the proposal.
What do you dislike about the product?
It can be buggy at times but overall very high quality and customizable
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Octiv helped our sales team to go from a paper contract to an entirely electronic version and close more deals!

What do you like best about the product?
I like the nice, clean look of proposals, the ability to save templates for different types of proposals, and the ability to track how long a client has looked at the proposal's various pages.
What do you dislike about the product?
I dislike the fact that the software seems to glitch up any time I need to add an extra field to a pre-existing template, the fact that it's nearly impossible to answer questions that clients ask using the application, and the difficulty involved in transferring ownership of proposals in the event that the creator is no longer with the company.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It allows us to quickly send renewals and contracts to clients.

What do you like best about the product?
I like how Octove has grown and expanded their features over the years. My favorite part is how they integrate with Salesforce. It makes renewals for my team a breeze.
What do you dislike about the product?
To get where renewals were easy it took quite a bit of customization and coding in HTML. If I could change one thing it would be to make some of those customization items easier to implement for a non-technical user.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are able to create a client renewal proposal with a few clicks. Important client and account information is merged in.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you are tired of editing Word documents and want a professional looking proposal software this is the one for you -- especially if you use Salesforce.com to manage your opportunities. The workflows make our lives so much easier.

What do you like best about the product?
Clean and consistent templates. Helps save time with pieces of the proposal writing.
What do you dislike about the product?
Bad formatting. Very temperamental when I try to make edits.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Consistent proposals are wonderful. Beyond the visual aspect, it's nice it have uniformed information to later review regardless if you are the creator or referencing the document at a later time.

Work on more consistent formatting. As a user or admin would like to undo a published document

What do you like best about the product?
It is very easy to use and works with Salesforce. We find that this streamlines our process by setting proper expectation for renewals when they first sign on as a customer. In the past they initial proposal would look so different from the renewal we would find ourselves spending great deal of time explaining the renewal to the client. Being able to have templates helps us in streamlining our proposal process.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not able to edit the proposal after it has been published. Many times we are creating 2-3 versions of the same proposal and we have to copy and republish and then send new link to the client. It would be extremely helpful and a time saver if we didn't have to create a new proposal every time we make an edit. Also, we've had issues with other users not being able to view each others proposals. This makes it very difficult when a client changes ownership internally.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Using to send proposals to clients, and it has streamlined the way we do things as a business across departments. Because it is integrated with Salesforce it can merge a lot of the information we need for renewals saving us a great deal of time and effort. We are also able to see when the client has reviewed the proposal and if they have questions which can help us in closing the renewal.

Have a plan for use and someone responsible for implementing.

What do you like best about the product?
I like that we can setup templates to easily create Statements of Work and proposals that are uniform across many users. It really saves us time and allows for editing when necessary.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes changes happen and aren't communicated properly or I'm possibly not signed up to receive those. So we've submitted tickets that are usually resolved promptly.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We're trying to make our proposal, Statement of Work process more seamless and efficient. This software has done that for us.
