Auth0: A Review
What do you like best about the product?
Auth0 isn’t perfect, but the simple integration and the extensive documentation make it easy to update the Authorization system on your website. Support is also fantastic and will happily guide you through anything you just don’t quite understand.
What do you dislike about the product?
When we were looking for an authorization solution, we found it frustrating that Auth0 didn’t disclose pricing upfront. It seemed a bit shady. Transparency is important, and Auth0 lacks transparency with regards to their pricing.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We were looking for an authorization solution, and Auth0 looked like a great choice. We definitely learned some with regards to passwords and login info, and found ourselves with more security for our customers.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Please make sure to be more transparent with potential consumers.
Software Engineer
What do you like best about the product?
The accessibility that Auth0 provides. I had to write very little code to use Auth0
What do you dislike about the product?
The callbacks. I did not like that callbacks of the sotware
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Polling for a mascot. It required authentication.
Effective, Attractive, and easy to use authentication
What do you like best about the product?
I can drop authorization into any existing application and not have to write a bit if code for the auth page. Social, email, or text auth.
What do you dislike about the product?
Really can't think of anything I dislike.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Handling user login and access level in various apps.
Easy to Use
What do you like best about the product?
It's easy to setup users, Multi-factor Authentication and User Activity Monitoring.
What do you dislike about the product?
If you're not used to the interface (New Users) it can be easy to get lost.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Keeping track of user statues and recovering login information at the speed of light.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Easer to understand support documents about the features.
Speed up identify implementations
What do you like best about the product?
Free to get started and great documentation. Support was also good when we did interact with them.
What do you dislike about the product?
The UI is not very flexible so to work quickly we did not customize it extensively. There also seemed to be manual steps required to create users and configure permissions.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Fast implementation of secure, enterprise grade identify solutions including authentication and authorization.
Auth0 helps you get auth right
What do you like best about the product?
Their documentation and example projects are superb.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are a limited number of 0Auth integrations and I'm still somewhat confused about their pricing model.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Auth as a service as well as attempting to follow best practices regarding authorizing users and security. It's a tremendous benefit to be able to let go of user management and just have an API to Auth0.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you're willing to go outside the AWS infrastructure for auth (i.e. you're willing to use something besides AWS Cognito), this seems like a great way to do it. Auth0's documentation is clearer and better than Cognito and they appear to have multiple levels of service... from API's to hosted custom login pages, etc. Also, I find Auth0's commitment to following best practices and security standards comforting.
Moved Authentication from MVC default
What do you like best about the product?
It was very simple to integrate with our existing Laravel application that had been using the default Laravel authentication for 2 years now.
What do you dislike about the product?
The tutorial for setting up Auth0 with Laravel was really good, except I ran into an issue with being able to use the Auth class in Laravel. I ended up finding a good solution to use Auth::user() but the tutorial for that implied that it should have connected automatically by itself.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We wanted to use a consolidated Authentication Module so that we could reuse user accounts across multiple systems for Single Sign On.
Let the Experts Do Your Identity Management
What do you like best about the product?
Auth0 simplified and consolidates all of the heavy lifting and risk involved in implementing identity management.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some of the API documentation is outdated and it takes a few tries to implement some less common features.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Hosted identity management so we don't have to be experts or run the risk of doing it half-baked.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Looked at Okta and Auth0 and Auth0 won out.
Great security tool
What do you like best about the product?
It's an easy implementation for your site and pricing is reasonable
What do you dislike about the product?
There's a lack of support services and the status page does not reflect the actual page
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Offers unified APIs and tools that instantly enables Single Sign On and user management to all your applications.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It's a good unified API tool, but has downsides in terms of support. It has a good UI and good dashboard for easy navigation for new users.
