What do you like best about the product?
Ubuntu is a good Linux distribution. It is quite smooth and supports many applications. Generally, I use Ubuntu for Automating the networking devices. Ubuntu is very powerful Linux distribution. I mostly use Ubuntu Operating System as a Virtual Machine and use with different softwares like GNS3 and python. User interface is really good and interactive.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is nothing to dislike in this Operating System because, Ubuntu is very powerful Linux distribution. Some users may face problems while operating because most of the Linux distributions are difficult to understand and operate.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I mostly use Ubuntu Operating System as a Virtual Machine and use with different softwares like GNS3 and python. It operates very smoothly with other softwares. I often run Python scripts in Ubuntu and it manages to process very fast.

What do you like best about the product?
It is easy to use and has a straight forward UI. I also prefer the debian package manager.
What do you dislike about the product?
The app store built in often causes problems. A lot of apps are not listed and if it is listed it may not be exactly what you are looking for.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Development machine and servers. Running docker for development environments.

My first choice for servers

  • January 06, 2019
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It's easy of use, it can be use for free, but if you want to pay the license, its support is a plus. I prefer Ubuntu than Red Hat because these reasons and because it is a Debian OS. I don't like RH new version because they don't work like other distros.
What do you dislike about the product?
Uhm, I think there is nothing I dislike, it's all right, it's the OS that I need, don't you?
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
All my servers have this OS, 'cause it's easy of use, it's safe and it has a lot of documentation, so I can learn whatever I need.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
You don't need to pay any license, but if you do it, you have a gold support, better than RH by example. I prefer Ubuntu for LAMP servers and I can work with a lot of caches memories in Ubuntu, but I can't do it with RH because it's more dificult.

Ubuntu - great debian distro

  • December 13, 2018
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I have used ubuntu for the past 8 years now and I love it. It is completely free and have lots of support from the community either in helping to troubleshoot issues or to install new applications or plugins. Also if you use the LTS version of ubuntu, it can pass any audit, especially PCI (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard). Also another thing I like is that there are new application like openstack, maas, etc being added to ubuntu after every release. Another addendum that I love is landscape which gives me the ability to centrally manage resources and fix vulnerabilities. I will continue to use ubuntu in the future and will recommend it to others.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't really have anything that I dislike about ubuntu.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Ubuntu is the OS of choice for our applications and databases. It is the OS we are choice to pass our audits.

Freedom to Build

  • December 13, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
One of the things I like best about Ubuntu is the freedom of choice. When installing Ubuntu, you have access to your entire hard drive. If you have a 250 gig hard drive, 249gigs are free to use. When using an OS like Windows, you have gigs that you can't access, Ubuntu gives you the entire hard drive to use.
What do you dislike about the product?
One of the most frustrating things about using Ubuntu is that not all Windows programs will work in Ubuntu. There are a lot of apps you can use, but there are also a few that just simply do not work.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
One of the business problems we have solved using Unbuntu is, not having enough space on our computers to store data. Ubuntu allows full access to your entire hard drive, which allows more storage, which eliminates the need to carry around external hard drives. data is at our finger tips
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Great OS for high level IT persons but a bit too complicated for the normal daily user

Excellent as desktop or server operating system

  • November 22, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I have used ubuntu for a long time, I like it to be an operating system in continuous evolution and improvement, it has come very close to users who do not belong to the field of information technology which has allowed many people to use it that I like. The user interface has improved a lot as time goes by it's very nice and it's nice to use the operating system. Another point in your favor is the package manager, it is very easy to install an application from the repositories already configured or add a new repository and install from there. I love its stability in server mode, a feature inherited from Debian, good processor and memory management, services are practically never interrupted by any operating system failure, this is essential for me. Another point in their favor is trust and is the community's support you know that when installing an application is something that has guaranteed functionality, many users have already tried it and you can rest easy in that regard. There are no licenses this makes you want to install it whenever possible and finally free of computer viruses, I am calm that is not exposed to many vulnerabilities of other operating systems.
What do you dislike about the product?
The constant updates of the operating system make it difficult to keep the production servers up to date. This has been a disadvantage for me. Since Gnome changed to Unity as a default desktop environment, I had to do an extra job when installing it on computers with low resources this I do not like I think that functionality has been sacrificed for aesthetics.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
In my work I have been able to install several web servers and also database which has allowed me to deploy applications that I have programmed with my group without problems.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Try it on is a good operating system where you can do from office work to robust web services, in general it is a good experience. Be careful when installing on low-resource computers.

Easy to use and free alternative to commercial business software

  • November 05, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I am always surprised by the fact why not more companies use Ubuntu as their business software as it is surprisingly easy to use, secure and most importantly it’s free!
What do you dislike about the product?
I really don’t dislike anything about Ubuntu
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
For no money you get an operation system that gives you a good package of basic software that you need; a huge collection of software that you can download in the software centre and you are free to use or change these programmes however you see fit for the purpose of your business

Ubuntu a stable Linux distribution

  • November 01, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Ubuntu is extremely stable and has a very good interface. The more happy news it is free to use and It also has many free applications.
It does not require any kind of antivirus which is very important these days to make your computer secure. Performance of Ubuntu is also very good in comparison with windows. The best thing it is free and you don't need to worry about the license cost when buying any new system.
What do you dislike about the product?
The only issue we faced was with office documents. Libre office works well with documents created in it but when people share documents made in Microsoft office latest versions it creates different annoying issues like formatting.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
In our organization we started shifting from Windows and selected Ubuntu which didn't make much difference for users. The main concern was the alternative to Microsoft office which Libre office served very well.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Such a good OS for free. Why not to try?

A refreshing trade!

  • October 31, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Unlike Windows, this operating system is not gradual over time and the control of procedures could be very efficient, consequently the PC runs smoothly. Ubuntu is that operating system. Ubuntu is the main choice for any development stage from beginner to professional. Anyone can be confident using this.
What do you dislike about the product?
Problems with Samba connectivity. But it is worth investing a lot of time to achieve the important ease of carrying out administrative responsibilities with maximum speed. If dual booting, grub kind of replaces the MDR unless you are being careful and doing it the hard way.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Ubuntu is like the tool for creating other equipment that we use to test a low-cost denial-of-service assault tool. It is better for humans working in academia.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I recommend it if you are looking to work with IT, not for regular use anymore, it is tough and not friendly in any way, but if you are used to the era, you will not find more problems. I guess you might not regret it.

Ubuntu, the best operating system ever made

  • October 31, 2018
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like Ubuntu because it is open source, Linux based operating system, there are tons of thing ubuntu can do others os can't for starters it is fully customizable you can change every single element of your UI/ UX, Ubuntu is highly secure that means no need to invest your money to buy antiviruses that tries to breach your computer to harm your data, Ubuntu is used by many developers around the globe because it has many functionality inbuilt which people have to install externally in another os like windows,Ubuntu is the fastest operating system out there because it manages the system resources use very efficiently, Ubuntu also gives you an inbuilt support for the bash in terminal.
What do you dislike about the product?
Ubuntu is not very user-friendly as other operating systems like windows is, especially for beginners they have to struggle a lot to get a habit of it, installing any software in Ubuntu is not just a double-click thing it could be a headache sometime, Ubuntu also has less hardware support especially graphics drivers are not supported, using Ubuntu I always face wireless connectivity issue.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I used Ubuntu for software development and machine learning as there are many free open source software for it, Ubuntu is used as a sole operating system in many companies and also it is very helpful will doing many server-side works
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I would highly recommend Ubuntu for people who want's to be a developer or wanted to join cooperate world because if you did than Ubuntu is an operating system which is used everywhere and is also open source and highly adjustable to your needs, it also gives better performance than other os in low-end devices one must try it .
