For someone who doesn't know code, Joomla is not super intuitive
What do you like best about the product?
I like that we have a cost-effective way to handle content management for our documentation site and corporate website. As a writer, I can get in and make changes with out always needing to contact our designer to help.
What do you dislike about the product?
Joomla just doesn't seem that easy to use. Formatting can be a massive pain; that's why I say that you should know html really well. However, even when our designer, who knows html, tries to solve certain issues, it can take her a long time to figure out what's wrong. The interface isn't very friendly, and the search function isn't very powerful or accurate.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We maintain two websites on Joomla. I'm not sure what benefits we've realized. We successfully maintain the sites, but I feel like another solution would probably be better for us. I'd like more flexibility in formats and better ease-of-use.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Make sure that you have the chance to test the product in a sandbox, if that's possible. Try to find out how using it really feels.

Jomla, a cms with everything you need
What do you like best about the product?
Joomla is a content management system that has everything. With a few basic php notions you can create a good site where you have useful and complete modules.
What do you dislike about the product?
The only thing that can dislike me joomla that being a very popular content manager can have security problems. Being a prefabricated product it can be exposed to vulnerability. Although in many it can be solved with an update but not enhancing it creates this problem.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I always recommend joomla to people or companies that wish to start a web presence. You can create personal or corporate sites in a short time and very personalized
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I recommend joomla to create a personal or corporate website quickly
Great software...really!
What do you like best about the product?
Not hard to learn on the job. I started using it with very little coding experience and could do a ton within a couple months. Let's just say my boss was very pleased with my work.
What do you dislike about the product?
There could be some limitations that you would have to find answers for. But there is an amazing community that has posted tons of questions and answers so it would only take a quick google search to find the answer I was looking for.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Much easier to publish a dynamic website that is unique. It's much easier to make things custom and I feel you can do more complicated things than with other platforms.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you're coming from wordpress you will need to learn a few things. It's not the same at all! take your time to learn all the different features and I'm sure you will love it.
CMS System is very functional for a non-technical user
What do you like best about the product?
Easy to understand the back-end editing process and pieces
What do you dislike about the product?
Can be challenging to manage if the website is more than basic
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Saving money while creating a unique looking website that is manageable in-house with relative ease.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I don't think I'd use this for an e-commerce site, but it's great fro smaller business who can't afford a website agency or in-house website management team, as it's easier to understand and function.
Website program with many extensions
What do you like best about the product?
The variety of add-ons makes Joomla a vary versatile website content and publishing program
What do you dislike about the product?
The variety and different costs of the extensions can be a hassle, but any webmaster should be able to navigate it well.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The system works great to keep our information organized and provides a solid web presence.
Not comparable to WP
What do you like best about the product?
The interface for the admin is sleek and very easy to learn and use. The modules and themes are laid out clearly.
What do you dislike about the product?
There wasn't a lot of "free" plugins to choose from and when there was, the functionality of them wasn't very robust compared to WP. I had a very hard time to find reputable plugins.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
website building
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Look into the functionality of the plugins and limitations before starting.
Versatile Opensource CMS But Requires Tech Savvy Staff
What do you like best about the product?
You can do so much with Joomla - I don't even think we used it to its full potential. There's a multitude of settings to create the exact site you want.
What do you dislike about the product?
With so many options and minute variants, our less tech savvy admins sometimes struggles to utilize Joomla to its full potential.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use it as our main CMS and benefits have included some nice plugins, URL control, easy to update, and easy to follow management hierarchy of a large site.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Try looking at Joomla sites you like and contact others so you can see what the backend looks and feels like.
My Joomla Review - stay away!
What do you like best about the product?
Some of the functionality of the software and the fact that its free is a bonus
What do you dislike about the product?
It is not intuitive at all!!! It's very cumbersome and frustrating to use, I hated using it!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We used joomla to run our website. I'm not sure we realised any benefits though... Everything ended up to be a complete mess and we ended up switching to wordpress!
