Overview
Deno on Ubuntu 24.04 with maintenance support by ATH. This is a repackaged open source software product wherein additional charges apply for support. Deno is a modern runtime for executing JavaScript and TypeScript outside of the web browser. Created by Ryan Dahl, the original developer of Node.js, Deno addresses some of the design limitations and security concerns of its predecessor. Built on the V8 JavaScript engine and implemented in Rust, Deno offers a secure environment with a permission system, an extensive standard library, and first-class support for TypeScript. It emphasizes simplicity and productivity by providing built-in tools for testing, formatting, linting, and dependency management, eliminating the need for separate package managers like npm.
Highlights
- Deno enforces a secure-by-default execution model. It requires explicit permissions for file system access, network requests, and environment variables, mitigating the risk of malicious code execution.
- Deno comes with a suite of built-in tools, including a code formatter, linter, test runner, and dependency inspector. This integrated tooling helps maintain code quality and consistency without relying on external packages.
- Deno provides native support for TypeScript, allowing developers to write modern, type-safe code without additional configuration. This enhances developer productivity and code reliability.
